You can safely cleanse once or twice a day, depending on your skin type and the kind of cleanser you use. Dry skin can do well with one cleanse a day, whether you’re using foaming or mild, non-stripping natural exfoliators designed for cleansing. It removes dirt, sunscreen, and buildup without depleting moisture, something dry skin is already low on. Normal, aging, and combination types can comfortably do it twice a day to freshen and nourish. Oily and acne-prone types greatly benefit from cleansing twice daily, ideally with a mildly exfoliating cleanser that doesn’t dry out and tighten the skin because excess oil, dirt, and buildup can clog pores. Overall, don’t over-cleanse, regardless of your skin type. When you strip the skin, you only make it more prone to irritation, dryness, and even more oil production.
